Moonlighters Big Band

Moonlighters or 'Moons'  is the University of Nottingham's student-run auditioned big  band which gives students from all subject areas the opportunity to play music that reaches across a broad spectrum of genres from big band jazz to modern funk charts; influences include artists such as Buddy Rich, Gordon Goodwin, Michael Jackson and Earth Wind and Fire. Moonlighters play regular gigs throughout the year ranging from charity and social events to gigs at the student's union, weddings, balls and functions. Although committed to a high standard of music, we also have an active social scene and will be hitting the town for regular social events such as bar crawls, seeing jazz gigs and lots more. Moonlighters recently completed a professional studio recording, and you can get hold of a CD by contacting the musical director George French (george.frenchd@hotmail.co.uk). This year, a large number of the band have graduated leaving heaps of opportunity for new players to come and audition. Look out for the Blowsoc stall at Freshers Fair in the first week to sign up to audition. If you think that Moonlighters is for you, then please contact the manager for more details.

If you're interested in hiring Moonlighters for your event, please contact Tom Peterken on ppytgpe@nottingham.ac.uk
